Camden plant awarded contract by Army for rockets
Camden News 6-27-2011 CAMDEN (AP) — The U.S. Army has awarded a $286 million contract for the production of air-to-ground rockets at the General Dynamics plant in Camden.The contract was awarded by the U.S. Army Contracting Command in Redstone Arsenal, Ala., to produce the Hydra-70 air-to-ground rocket and was announced Monday in a news release from General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products. GDAT is a business unit of General Dynamics. The plant in Camden has more than 300 employees and has been the sole manufacturer of the Hydra rocket since 1996. The Army orders the rockets for all branches of the U.S. military and for select allies. It has also been announced that Lockheed Martin has received a $445 million follow-on contract for Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System Unitary rockets from the U.S. Army Aviation & Missile Command. |
